Construction Technology
Construction Core and Carpentry is an instructional/skill program that prepares students for employment or continued education in the Architecture and Construction Career Pathway. These students may earn four (4) Carnegie Unit electives for high school graduation. They may also choose to earn national certification through the NCCER. Skills covered in this program include: carpentry, electrical wiring, masonry, and plumbing.
This comprehensive program of instruction and hands-on experience helps students develop knowledge, skills and experience needed to secure entry-level employment in carpentry, brick masonry, construction framing, electrical wiring, and related areas in the building industry. Year 2 students experience an intensive training in all phases of carpentry. Students who complete the modules earn a NCCER National Certification, receive a wallet card, and are registered nationally in the NCCER data base. This registration is permanent and when the student applies for a construction job, the company can pull up the NCCER credentials on any computer using the wallet card ID number.
Construction Core and Carpentry is a nationally recognized curriculum. It works closely with the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation (MCEF), a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote careers, recruit capable individuals, and train a quality workforce for the construction industry in Mississippi.

Core Construction - Year 1
C or higher in English (previous year) C or higher in Math (last course taken or specified by instructor)

Pass Year 1 with average of 70 or higher
Complete all Year 1 NCCER modules
